Lime washer or lime water, translated from German, is one of the oldest methods for adding calcium to the reef aquarium. It has proven its worth: corals experience better and stronger growth, without any side effects.

ROWAkalk consists of 98.2% pure calcium hydroxide, for making lime water (lime washer) and for use in lime water (lime washer) stirrers.

Kalkwasser is a solution made by dissolving calcium hydroxide in water. The fresh solution obtained is alkaline with a pH of 12.4 and contains an easy supply of both calcium ions and carbonate ions.

Both ions are useful in the aquarium: carbon for buffering the pH values and calcium for the corals.

Kalkwasser alone contains no other ions that would lead to an imbalance in the water chemistry of the aquarium. Add the lime washer with the utmost care: it is very reactive with CO2 and can change the pH values considerably if it is not used and checked properly. Please consider using a Kalkwasser stirrer.
